NEW: Zé Ramalho - covers album from Brazil

New in Dylan Cover Albums HERE is Tá tudo mudando: Zé Ramalho canta Bob Dylan, an album of 11 Portuguese translations plus If Not For You performed in English.
A matching DVD has also been released, it is to be determinded if the DVD tracks are live or the same as the CD studio recordings. The DVD has been added to the Video page.
I have not found these titles listed at any of the major international sellers, but they are available from Brazilian sources such as FNAC.com.br.
Zé has covered Hurricane and Knockin' On Heaven's Door on previous albums. More info at zeramalho.com.br

Australia-based R&B singer Tina Harrod covers I Shall Be Released on her new album Worksongs.

Country singer Larry Jon Wilson covers the Dylan/Willie Nelson song Heartland on his self-titled CD, his first in almost 30 years. Larry Jon's last album, 1979's Sojourner, also included a Dylan song: I'll Be Your Baby Tonight.

The Allman Brothers' 2008 Tour CDs contain several Dylan songs, including their debut performances of It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry. Other songs are Highway 61 Revisited, I Shall Be Released (both with Bob Weir) and Don't Think Twice (with Susan Tedeschi.)

It was an election year, so Masters Of War was a popular cover again. Three from CD Baby: The Sweet Kill, Neon Nights, and Karma.

And... Masters Of War by the Hip-Hop duo X-Vandals can be downloaded HERE (free.) The track from their album The War Of Art incorporates elements from several other songs.

R.I.P. Odetta

Odetta, one of the first to record a full album of Dylan covers, has died at age 77.

Odetta Sings Dylan
was released by RCA in 1965. Odetta had previously covered Blowin' In The Wind on her 1963 LP Odetta Sings Folk Songs, and Paths Of Victory on her 1964's Odetta Sings of Many Things. Both these earlier tracks were included on CD reissues of Odetta Sings Dylan.
