Down in the Flood is now available as a free mp3 download from howardfishman.com
the album is now available on iTunes

New in the DylanCover.com collection:
Pat Guadagno

All Along The Watchtower (4:56)
Pat Guadagno
Live at The City Lights Saloon
CD: Campbell Music; 2003 (US)

After hearing several Pat Guadagno covers recently posted at the Live Music Archive, I picked up a copy of his only album thus far. Guadagno is a legend on the Jersey shore, and this album re-creates his live show in-studio before a small crowd at City Lights Studios in Farmingdale, New Jersey on May 7, 2003. His hard-driving acoustic playing results in a hybrid folk-rock version of All Along The Watchtower.

Idiot Wind (7:40)
Dumptruck
Lemmings Travel to the Sea
CD: Devil in the Woods DIW 37;
2000 (US)

Boston band Dumptruck was a favorite of college radio in the 1980s, this 2000 album was recorded after their heyday and subsequent move to Austin, Texas. Included with the CD however was a second disc of live recordings from their most popular period. The live tracks, including the 2 Dylan songs, are from two shows at the legendary CBGB's in New York: You Ain't Goin' Nowhere from July 12, 1986 and Idiot Wind from January 16, 1988.

New in the DylanCover.com collection:
Dave Cartwright

Mr. Tambourine Man (3:47)
Don't Think Twice (2:54)
Dave Cartwright
Number 1
EP: Highway Records HWY 6001; 1965 (UK)

The first recordings of UK folksinger Dave Cartwright, then 22 years old. This 5-track, 7", 33-1/3 RPM Mono EP offers pleasant, typical folkie covers of Mr. Tambourine Man and Don't Think Twice, along with Where I'm Bound, Hey Nelly Nelly and Man of Constant Sorrow.
Aside from a few songwriter credits, an internet search did not find much info about Dave. This from the record sleeve:
"A little about Dave: He was born in 1943 at Haselmere, Surrey but soon moved to the Midlands, where in 1964 he began appearing at local Folk Clubs. Apart from Dave's unique style of singing he is also a very competent guitarist, the rich tones of his twelve string guitar blending most effectively with his voice. An appreciative audience expressed the opinion that Dave would "be good on record", and, having heard him ourselves we at Highway soon endorsed that opinion -
The Result, Dave Cartwright No. 1"

New in the DylanCover.com collection:
Henry Kaiser - Glenn Phillips

Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues (5:50)
Won't You Please Crawl Out Your Window? (4:41)
Henry Kaiser - Glenn Phillips
Guitar Party
CD: Gaff Music GM0130; 2003 (US)
Recorded: January 1990

What do you get when you mix two guitar masters, a few guest vocalists, some original tunes and a batch of covers? A Guitar Party.
Henry Kaiser and Glenn Phillips recorded these tracks in San Francisco in 1990, but they remained unreleased until 2003. Several guests handle the vocal duties, most notably Phil Lesh on Hendrix's If 6 Was 9. The two Dylan covers are sung by Susan James and Gary Lambert, respectively.
There is a third Dylan cover on this CD - as a hidden track after track 13 - the very strange Henry Kaiser's Obsequious Cheeselog version of Tom Thumb's Blues from Outlaw Blues Volume Two.

New in the DylanCover.com collection: Bassholes

Yea Heavy and a Bottle of Bread (2:16)
Bassholes
B-side of "Interzone" single
7": Seldom Scene Records SEEN04; 1996 (US)

It's been said that the Bassholes, the Ohio duo fronted by Don Howland, "single handedly started the whole lo-fi-two-man-blues-band genre," a fitting description of their version of The Basement Tapes' Yea Heavy and a Bottle of Bread. The 1996 single was issued in both clear vinyl and black vinyl versions. To my knowledge it has not appeared on any album or compilation.

Watchtower (3:55)
DMC
Checks Thugs and Rock-N-Roll
CD: RomeN Mpire/From Rags 2 Riches 2-68607; 2006 (US)

Don't panic, this isn't really a rap version of All Along The Watchtower.
Rap pioneer DMC raps unrelated new lyrics alternating with verses of Watchtower sung by Josh Todd of the L.A. rock band Buckcherry. Lead guitar by Elliot Easton of The Cars.
