» "Punk folk" performer Andy Warstar has added dozens of 2007-08 recordings to archive.org. 14 Dylan covers were added to the DataBase in the last update. Unfortunately many of the shows do not show song titles (although when downloaded most of the mp3s are titled.) Recordings are from studio recordings, live performances and radio appearances, and quality varies from lo-fi self-recordings to soundboards.
On his website, many more older recordings are available for free download, all in zip files with unlisted contents.
If anyone has the time and patience to search these shows from either source, let me know if you find any more Dylan covers!

Battle of the Dylan Cover Bands: final week

April 3o is the final day for entries to DylanRadio.com's 2nd annual Battle of the Dylan Cover Bands. (details HERE)
Next will be an elimination round, where a panel of judges will determine the entries that will continue. Then entries will be pitted against each other in a Tournament-style competition voted on by listeners, continuing until there is a final winner.

Winston Apple added to Dylan Cover Albums

Alias: Zimmerman! (Apple sings Dylan) by Winston Apple has been added to Dylan Cover Albums HERE.
The 2-CD set of Dylan covers by the Kansas City singer/songwriter features full band performances of 26 early Dylan songs (the latest is Knockin' On Heaven's Door.) Many of the tracks are unique arrangements, the most notable is a Watchtower that incorporates some lyrics from Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands. I can't describe the album any better than this from his website: "features Dylan classics (and less well-known tunes) from the mid-sixties, re-arranged, re-interpreted, and re-imagined, filtered through Winston's unique production style: wall of sound rock, with a variety of influences: country, blues, reggae, ska, and folk."
Highly recommended.

Totta's Basement Tapes added to Dylan Cover Albums

Totta's Basement Tapes / Down In The Flood: Songs by Bob Dylan by Totta Näslund has now been added to Dylan Cover Albums HERE. The English-language album was recorded in December of 2003 prior to the Totta & Wiehe Swedish album. Released by EMI-Sweden on March 31.
Download version will be available from amazon.co.uk and amazon.de on April 19, audio samples are available now. Links for CD sources will be posted when available.
